About this deal

The After Eights bring a subtle minty-cold and quite unique chewiness from the frozen mint fondant they contain. Although to ensure full ‘mintyness’, the ice cream still has a custard base that is flavoured with natural extract of peppermint too. PLUS you can add dark mint chocolate for extra cool… AND if you like, steep the hot cream with mint leaves, for a natural undertone. The choice is yours! What are After Eights and can I use an alternative? Make a sugar scrub. Freshen up your dry skin for summer with a mint and cucumber sugar scrub at Creations by Kara. Keep it close to your shower for a DIY spa treatment at home right now.

Another way of preserving mint is to separate the stems and layer between paper kitchen towels. I store these in a sealed plastic container and find they will last quite happily in the fridge for about a week. Because homemade ice cream doesn’t contain a load of additives and emulsifiers, it will generally set a little firmer than some shop-bought ‘soft serve’ type ice creams. The easiest way to ensure the ice cream is a little bit softer, is to add a drop of alcohol to the custard once cool and before churning. This is because alcohol lowers the freezing temperature, making it softer and easier to scoop. Relieve congestion. Add a handful of fresh peppermint leaves to a glass of water. Bring to a boil. Take off the heat and inhale the steam to help relieve congestion. Offer it to an old peoples home so they can use it in fresh mint teas…….. (Gigi Camille Llewellyn Navana) ·Mint will grow fine with just a couple of hours sun a day - so an excellent one for a shady window sill or balcony. I had so much last year - apple, chocolate, ginger, grapefruit, pineapple and peppermint - I took great armfuls of it to the local cafe bar where they had great fun experimenting with it for future dishes/drinks. (Saffron Gardenchild ). Mint Choc Chip Ice Cream seems to be ‘traditionally’ flavoured green… Even though this is not its natural colour. I guess the association with green mint is considered to be appealing. However, as this is homemade ice cream, you have the choice on whether to colour or not! It will taste great either way. Well I made two different marinades/salad dressings, once was an apricot dressing w/ mint, the last was a lemon mint quinoa “salad”. (Lisa Brady)

Make peppermint extract. You can also convert your fresh mint into peppermint extract, with these directions from Elaina at The Rising Spoon. Peppermint extract is great to have on hand for your holiday baking! In addition to ingesting mint, there are claims that inhaling the aroma of essential oils from the plant could provide health benefits, including improved brain function. If u don't want to use toothpaste because it has chemicals in it . U can brush with baking soda and chew a mint leaf after. (Donna Baggett Van Atta) Dip the leaves in chocolate. If you want the flavor of some mint chocolate chip ice cream without the calories, try these chocolate dipped mint leaves at Tori Avey. Or, you know, just add them as a topping to your ice cream and get the best of both worlds.
