I’d had a ball writing the superhero strips for Ross, and now I wanted to figure out who was behind that mask. Also, still have questions about why his little cousin Mervyn wears a shirt and pants, but Gary only wears pants.Strengths: This is based on a character from Ross' comics in Wink, and hits the middle school sweet spot for goofy while cleverly working in issues of personal identity. What better way to battle what ails you then to grab a pen and paper and have your alter ego strap on some tights and a cape and defeat them on the page. I have even talked the head into a little revamp of the library so that we can display them properly! The story begins with Batpig being in deep trouble, attached to a rocket and then flashes back to how Batpig became Batpig.

This experience has been fantastic primarily for the children, the school and also for me (professionally).
