Very workable house though felt it would have been a bit cramped had all 12 of our party been able to make it. Two flights of stairs if you’re in the top bedrooms. Variety of downstair rooms, with one having doors onto patio, made for flexibility for wide age range. Kitchen seemed small at first but worked out pretty well. Initially put off by number of flies gathering in kitchen (got to remember this is a farming area) but somehow we all came to a workable accommodation. Most fantastic setting, absolutely loved it…gorgeous lake you can walk or cycle around, hills and forests, big skies, rolling green fields, good playing areas around house. Beware the huge creeper on side of house. It ate our mini rugby ball on the firsty evening and it is still there and probably not the only one. Very helpful lady looking after the house, reachable by telephone. Two good pubs at Ennerdale Bridge. Enjoyed visiting Cockermouth, and the coast, particularly St. Bees. In the churchyard I found the grave of my great grandfather who had been shipwrecked there at the beginning of the 20th century. We had a very good holiday.
